The stay

Darcha Sumdo is a small homestay and guest house near the Darcha bridge, the last village cluster before the high passes and the classic base for the Darcha–Padum trek over Shingo La. Three rooms with private bathrooms and balconies looking onto the mountains.

There's a dining area, free parking and a pet-friendly welcome — a no-frills, well-rated stop for trekkers and for anyone driving the Manali–Leh road north of Jispa.

Carry cash; there's little to no network this far north.
